home page won't fully load

  • One of sites has been running perfectly until this morning.

    The home will load the title of the first post, then chokes after that. Setting that post to private results in the title of the next post displaying, then nothing after that.

    The sidebar widgets are also failing to load.

    Re-running the 3.8.1 update does not help.

    Ideas anyone?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    renamed plugin folder via FTP = no change

    deactivated all plugins via dashboard = no change

    while the right hand widgets do not load on the home page, they do load on the interior pages.

    clicking on the title of the posts returns a result identitial to the home page

    div class entry is where the content stops loading

    changed the theme resulted in full content loading. returning to desired theme = same problem. at least I know where to look now.
