Text area add media issues

I have a text area on a post in a custom post type, and when I try to add media I see a couple of odd issues.

1. the formatting in the gallery view is out of whack. Looks similar to what you’d get if you weren’t clearing floats on div down a page.

2. Whether I try adding media via the gallery view or the library view, it’s missing the “Insert” button. We tested whether or not the “use this” link would allow for the same functionality, but all this does is strip the content out of the text area

Anyone else having issue with media in text areas?

I’m wondering if this could be something to do with CFT using old TinyMCE stuff, or the old WP media tool, as the sites that I’m experiencing these issues on are running 3.8.1, and the latest version of TinyMCE
