    Hey guys,

I’m using a slideshow from nextgen gallery on my landing page – it takes minutes until the page is loaded. Using FireBug I found out that he “blocks” rendering the page until every single image is loaded.

I reduced the amount of images from 50 to 20 an now it’s much faster but still takes about 20sec which is quite too much. When I tried to remove the slider completely (or when I checked some content sites without any slideshow) the page is really fast too.

So is there any way to improve the performance of the slideshow? Best way would be to make it asynchronous (fetching the images via JavaScript).

    Thanks in advance!

@daniel K – Although we are always looking at how to improve performance for the NextGEN Gallery plugin in general as well as any specific display types, there are many potential variables involved in a Slideshow display.

Limiting the amount of images is one you are using, ensuring the images are properly optimized for the Internet and as well as the specific Slideshow also will have some performance increases.

You may also see some benefits from using a caching plugin such as W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache.

We are always open to suggestions and contributions from the community as well on how we can make improvements, please feel free to use our Feature Request of Contact Us forms to share your thoughts and ideas on what you think would help here. We would be happy to pass them along to our developers.
