    Hi there – I’m not entirely clueless about WordPress but I’m afraid everything I’ve seen so far as guides to this assumes a level of knowledge about editing the .php file that I don’t have…

    What I’d like to do is simple: I want to replace the header image with the slider and the menu above on teh Twenty Twelve theme. Would somebody mind explaining in reasonably idiot-proof language where to place the code in the header.php, if I have to delete / replace existing code, etc.

    Hi @adredwood, no problem. Have a look at this guide (go to the section titled “Twenty Twelve Theme Header Slider”).

    That tutorial is aimed at beginners. Should be everything you need ?? Just follow it carefully.
