    I’m trying to upload WordPress to my host (000webhost.com) to use it for a web site (practice1.comli.com). I’ve downloaded WordPress, downloaded Filezilla, gotten a 000webhost account, and configured WordPress (including changing the wp-config file).

    I know want to upload my WordPress folder to my website. Only problem is I don’t have a wordpress folder.

    I’ve downloaded (and apparently unzipped) WordPress 3.8, but I don’t have a wordpress folder. How do you create one? Is it possible to put my WordPress files in one now, or do I have to start all over again from scratch?

    Any information/help would be greatly appreciated.

    So create a directory on the server called wordpress and then copy over all the files from your local, unzipped folder containing the WordPress files.

    Usually when I download and unzip WordPress it’s unzipped into a folder called wordpress and you can just FTP that whole folder with everything in it up to your server.

    Do be aware that free hosting may have issues trying to run WordPress – all those server resources are also being shared by every other site being hosted on that particular server so performance will likely suffer.

    Thanks for your reply, bemdesign, and I’m in the process of copying those files over right now. However, I find that it’s a very long and laborious process copying them over one by one, and I wonder if there’s an easier way. If I started all over again, could I install WordPress into a folder called wordpress, and how would I do that? Also, if I copy everything into my wordpress folder (which I’ve created already), I’ll have two copies of WordPress on my computer. So would it be better to delete each file after I’ve copied it over?

    Thanks in advance, everyone, for any help you can provide.

    @tony Mills you can,
    1. create a folder name wp or wordpress
    2. upload wordpress zip into that wp or wordpress folder.
    3. you need find out if you have file manager at your free hosting. If you have then you can extract it by file manager. After extract you will have now another folder name wordpress you need to bring all the files from wordpress folder to wp or wordpress folder.
    4. then run your setup and before run your setup you need to find out the DB host, DB user, DB name and DB password from your hosting account.
    5. run the setup and it should all work now.

    I’ve copied all my wordpress files, and I’ve also changed wp-config.php to reflect my DB host, DB user, DB name and DB password. I’ve also put these into Filezilla. I now want to upload the wordpress folder from the left side of Filezilla (local side) to the right side (remote side). The problem is that there is no wordpress folder on the left side. How do I get my wordpress folder to the local side of Filezilla, so I can upload it?

    My website is practice1.comli.com, using 000webhost.com, although there’s no web site there yet, because I can’t get past this hurdle of uploading WordPress.

    Any help would be appreciated.
