Randomize Posts in Category (W/ Excerpts)

After looking through the forums for a bit, I have been unable to find a good solution to randomizing posts in a category. All the plugins available are very outdated, even pre WP 1.5 time. I’m looking for something updated and quick to use.

The situation is simple. The devlounge homepage (https://www.devlounge.net) is running 3 different loops. One for news, articles, and interviews. The articles loop shows the latest 5 articles from the “articles” category, while outputting all the normal variables (Post title, excerpt, and surrounding div).

The problem is I’ve been unable to find a plugin or solution that works and correctly outputs all the inclosed code without screwing up & spitting out errors or nothing at all.

Any solution?
