Although the plugin seems to be well designed, I have several issues:

Tried it w/WP Super Cache and Amazon S3/Cloudfront

    1) The plugin places an impossible to remove link back to the author’s website in my main menu. This is unacceptable.

    2) Upon plugin deletion database tables are left behind: bhn_file and bhn_setting

    3) During a short trial, I found that changes made to my child theme style.css were not syncd and did not appear even after deleting cache and toggling include CSS in the settings menu.

    4) There is no documentation.

Besides the above, the plugin does seem to work.

    Hi fwunder,

Thank you for your concern! The free version contains a optimized by BHN text as mentioned on our product details page outlined here:

    https://www.bluehatnetwork.com/speed-up-wordpress.html

You can purchase the pro version which doesnt contain the text for $22 one-time fee from our website.

To address your concern about the database tables being left behind… this was done by design to leave the tables behind and the reason is, some people like to install and uninstall their plugin in some rare cases and they dont want to lose their sync stats and settings so that is why the tables are left behind in case you are performing and upgrade or want to reinstall Blue Hat Turbo at another time.

Please ensure you are using the latest version which is now version 1.5, and try hitting refresh on your web browser and that should take care of any issues you thought you may be having.

You can also find more documentation on our website here:

Thanks for the quick reply, however…

When I installed the plugin it created a menu item named “Joomla Cloud” to my main menu. On your website it claims free version “Contains “Optimized By BHN” Text”.

I really don’t wish to have my main WordPress nav menu advertising and linking to “Joomla Cloud”.

Perhaps a footer link “Optimized By BHN” would be more appropriate for a “free version” and while testing?

I think you are doing a great job and this has great promise, but the menu modification is a bit much for testing prior to purchase, IMHO.

    Thank you.

It is suppose to appear as a footer menu item, but since you probably dont have a menu at the bottom of your website, that is why it is not appearing there.

Anyhow, if you are looking for a quality turbo charger plugin, you know where to find us ??

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

    Thank you!

I have to agree. The link on my site says “Best CDN” tagged on my footer menu for customers to log in to their accounts. With such keyword rich anchor text that is NOT “nofollow”, it appears you are trying to game google. You might want to rethink this deployment and just go with the name of your company, which, if it is a really good plugin, will be sufficient. The fact that it also appears as part of my menu structure, I consider frankly, quite rude. I wouldn’t object so much if it were next to my copyright. I am also much less inclined to purchase the full version based on such.

Although we appreciate your concern, a back link to the author on a free software extension is not uncommon and not rude at all. Using a well written software without giving anything back to the author, now that is rude.

Point being, if you like the software extension, and you dont want the discrete menu item on your website, then purchase the professional version for $22. Its pretty straight forward when you think about it.

The details are outlined all over our website here:

IMO they way it attaches to my menu with my theme it is. Just giving you my opinion as an end user. I don’t expect you to give it away. I’m more than happy to compensate you for a good product.

    Plugin Author Blue Hat Network

    (@bluehatnetwork)

Yes, I can agree with you and see your perspective on that and appreciate your willingness to be fair to the author. The way we designed the link is to be as discreet as possible for the sake of not making the user’s website ugly by having a footer link that sticks out like a thorn from the rest of the website, that is why we place the link in the menu closest to the bottom of the page which in your case seems to be in a more visible area of your website, but for most people who have footer menus on their website, the link lodges right in the footer with their other menu items so we dont ruin the look of the website.

Again this is a very common practice in the software industry, more specifically with free items. You will find big names like vBulletin, Kunena, and tons of other free software items doing the same practice. The deal is simple. We will give you a quality extension that does what it promises in exchange for the credit back to the author at least if you are not willing to pay for the item. After all, everybody should have the right to turbo charge their website whether they have $22 or not. Thats out belief at least. That is why we designed the pro version and free version. The pro version is perfect for professionals who are making money off their websites and dont mind giving a little kick back to the author to impress their visitors and clients. For alot of people that is worth more than $22, plus you can install it on unlimited websites, but the price we are asking for is fair in my opinion.

After all, it is currently one of the best, quality written turbo charging plugins for WordPress and Joomla, so a little credit back to the author is not much that we are asking in exchange for a quality plugin ??

    bluehatnetwork,

I respect your quick responses and obvious passion for what appears to be well written software and probably well worth the price, but…

IMHO you are being a bit disingenuous. If you are an Amazon web services reseller, why not just say so? You obviously have a value added product. Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t the CDN network you are promoting as the Bluehat network cloud in fact the Amazon Network? At least that is where your own website content resides.

Perhaps I am being naive, but it is a bit troublesome. After all, if I signed up for your service I will be basically handing over my website content to you…or someone.

I think I will have to stick with CDN Sync Tool until you can resolve these issues.

    Good luck.

a back link to the author on a free software extension is not uncommon and not rude at all

But it does breach the plugin submission guidelines that state that such back links should be optional and should not be displayed by default (ie need to be opt-in). See Point 10 in https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/about/guidelines/

yes, you are correct our CDN is built on top of Amazon’s network, but the features and additions that we offer is unparalleled. We had a customer come to us yesterday and tell us that he ran benchmarks against our network and Amazon cloudfront and he said our network was faster and in fact he is right, because we are not just SIMPLY using amazon’s network. We are leveraging several optimization features and enhancements that can not be provided by Amazon CloudFront alone. That is why Blue Hat Turbo exists and why the combination of Blue Hat Turbo and Blue Hat CDN gives you the ultimate performance you can possibly get out of your website right now. If you want a low latency, globally geographically load balanced website without doubling your hosting costs, this is the next best thing. We installed Blue Hat Turbo on a clients website the other day, AdspacePlatform.com, perhaps you have heard of them, they are a major advertising network, comparable to BuySellAds.com, and after we installed Blue Hat Turbo on their website, their website speed instantly increased by 50% of the speed it was before. Their SEO rankings instantly went up and conversion rate also went up. That is what they told us, so the decision to not use our product is yours, but it is obviously not something we recommend if you want to have a fast website that impresses your visitors. So you are not just trusting your web content over to just anyone, we are a quality product and service, a company that is delivering a quality product to users for a fair price.

The choice is obviously yours. But if it was ME. Personally, I would prefer to have my website the fastest it could possibly be, and that is the mentality that Blue Hat Turbo was developed around. It gives you the freedom to use other CDNs as well. There is no force or obligation to use our CDN over other networks. We are simply providing a turbo charging plugin that delivers what it promises. It gives you maximum performance.

    Plugin Author Blue Hat Network

    (@bluehatnetwork)

esmi, if that is the case, would you like us to display a confirmation on the plugin that says to continue using this plugin please agree to the powered by link, or what do you purpose that is fair to the author? We have already outlined on our website that we offer a pro version and a free version and we clearly highlight the difference between the two, so i am a bit shocked as to the hostility towards a free plugin that we obviously have worked hard on and are offering for free.

    Plugin Author Blue Hat Network

    (@bluehatnetwork)

if we remove the powered by text then features will have to be removed in the free version in order to comply with wordpress plugin guidelines. We thought people would appreciate ALL the features being included in the free version, but I guess apparently that is not the case here. That is a shame.

    zappyone

    (@zappyone)

What you call hostility I would call valuable feedback from end users. There are plenty of other marketing methods that allow compensation and still offer a free plugin and a paid product upgrade. Like I said before, if you have a great product folks will want to buy it. It’s all in the offer.

    Plugin Author Blue Hat Network

    (@bluehatnetwork)

No, we definitely value your feedback. Please don’t misunderstand my reply, we value your feedback, but what do you purpose we do? If we remove the link, we will have to sacrifice features to offset the price and its a shame because the only people that will negatively affect are the people who can’t afford to pay $22. Its a shame because its truly a great plugin and I am not just saying that because i work for the company, but i am saying that because I personally used it on a few of my own websites and i was just astonished on the speed difference, plus we worked REALLY HARD on it so I know alot of quality, attention to detail has been put in it. People are coming to us everyday from the wordpress community thanking us and telling us what a great plugin it is. I am not bragging, I am simply saying it is a great plugin and to get all the features in exchange for a link is not that bad, and there is always the $22 option for those that don’t like it. I don’t know, it makes alot of sense to me. We are of course open to hear your suggestions on what you think we should do instead as long its fair for both parties. We are not doing anything strange here, we are simply asking for credit back to the authors site for the work that we’ve done. Otherwise $22 is the other option. Seems pretty fair to me. You get a quality software product that works with all major CDNs so its really an investment in yourself and your own website(s), link, $22, or we take out some of the features, those are the options we really have here. I’m just saying that its a shame because it would be nice to just give away the full featured version because I feel like thats a right that everyone should have, to have their website running at maximum performance. Every website should have that right, whether the user is from a 3rd world country who can’t afford $22 or not.

    Plugin Author Blue Hat Network

    (@bluehatnetwork)

Kunena forum extension which is a popular Joomla extension does the same exact thing. If you check their plugin, you will see on all the pages there is a credit back to the Kunena site. Alot of companies do that. vBulletin. Countless companies because it makes alot of sense. Its a win win situation for all parties. The people who can’t afford $22 still get all features and benefits, and the author still gets his credit, and there is always an option to opt-out by purchasing for the people who dont want that. I hope you understand that if the wordpress community asks us to take out the credit link out now that esmi has reported us then we will have to take out features from the free version in order to offset the loss. So that is the part that is a shame, because the only people who that will affect is the people who can’t afford $22 and all the people who were fine with the original deal in the first place. I don’t know, but I definitely know we are open to suggestions and we obviously want to comply with the wordpress community.
