Hi there. I am hoping to disable or delete the theme’s original menu and create a very simple horizontal menu with five or so tabs that link to my pages.
I’ve tried the custom css menu plugin to no avail, and hoping for an easy fix. I am new, with very little knowledge of css, and am hoping to make a few aesthetic changes to the site, then leave it alone and simply write my blog posts. I’ve got a long way to go…
Anyone want to help out a chef who just wants to cook and not write code?
    ??

Hi Becca – the good news is that most themes these days – including Syntax – come with built-in custom menu support!

WordPress.com actually has a great guide on how to set up a custom menu. There is no coding and no plugins required. Check it out here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

If you want a horizontal menu you’re probably better off with a different theme, because one of Syntax’s main distinctive features is the slideout vertical menu. Many other themes come with a horizontal menu, though, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding one.

Let me know how it goes!
