  • Hey, if you change your table prefix in wp-config.php, you also will need to rename the tables in your database to use the same prefix. You can do that through phpmyadmin.

In future, if I want to add in some posts and pages, do I need to change them back ?

    Thanks.

If you change the prefix, you’ll either be using different database tables, or you will need to change the prefix of each table in the database.

If you’re using different database tables then your old data will remain there until you delete the tables. If you’re changing the prefix on each table to match the setting in your config file, the table swill still be the same so there’s no change.

What exactly are you trying to do???

Actually, I have installed a plugin, better WP Security. It request to rename database prefix .wp, so I am wondering if I rename, do I really need to change it back when there is an update for my posts and pages.

    Thanks.

No. Everything magically sorts itself out. Make sure though, you have a backup (or 2) of the original database.
