    I turned on the new hotlinking feature and it blocked all images from loading on my site, including the slider on the homepage. Turning that off restored the images.

    Hi itsmarkk, try and deactivate any slideshow plugin you might have and see if your images come back.

    Test a different theme i.e WordPress default to see if it clashing with your theme. Although I am almost certain it is a plugin that it is conflicting with.

    Kind regards

    The slideshow is a feature of the theme, InkThemes Andrina Responsive Pro, and not a separate plugin. With the Hotlinking feature turned on, in Andrina, no pictures are shown anywhere on the site, but with TwentyThirteen the images located on the pages are shown.

    Thanks.

    Please post the URL of your site so I can check a few things.

    I think I can see the cause of your issue – it is your theme.
    Your theme is using relative URLs to represent the images.
    Eg:
    <img src="/wp-content/uploads/yosemite.jpg" alt="Slide 5">

    This is bad programming practice for starters.

    The behaviour you are seeing is that the special hotlink directive in the .htaccess file is failing to match your domain name when it comes across an image on a page and hence it is treating these images as being hot-linked.

    I’ll have to look at the image reference fields. I may have it entered that way on the sliders and home page, but pretty sure the additional pages may not be that way. I’ll post back after I check.
