    Hello,

I have a trouble with my website .. I don’t know how it happens … I can’t access to my wp-admin page … “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” !!

I found a solution with that topic :
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/permissions-fail-wp-admin-login-issues?replies=4

But this is an old topic (i use wordpress 3.8.1 and the topic is about wordpress 2^^) and I didn’t recover my whole admin access : no more “widgets” admin etc … and I can’t make updates !

Please, can you help me ??

    *edit* did somes tests :
launched wp-admin/upgrade.php => tells me that i have the latest database
on the dashboard, it tells me “WordPress 3.8.1 is available! Please notify the site administrator.” … why contacting the administrator while I’m connected as the administrator (no link to the classic update)

Seems my whole site is broken while I did nothing on it ….. (was running an old version of WP : 3.5.1)

    Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

switching to default theme, disable pluggins and upgrade manually : already DONE.

re-uploadingfiles : do you mean I must first delete those on my ftp or I can overwrite : I already upload latest WP files on my ftp files, with overwriting option with the same actual issue.

    Nothing new ??
Still missing some admin pages like widgets, and no update page on the dashboard menu … I’m crying ^^

I have had a problem accessing my admin login page for the last 2 weeks,
keeps redirecting to visitors login blocking access to admin login page and hence the dashboard. Have tried everything you have done except uploading fresh wordpress files. Planning to contact my webhost so they can check my error log. The whole situation with me started with a
“506 error”, when logging in, temporarily my site crashed then came back online but could not access the admin panel.
I don’t know if this is how your problem started, I had updated to a new
version of wordpress 3.8.1, 2 days before the problem happened.
