Sorry, I’ve never used WP before and I don’t know what that means. Is there something simple (not code) that I can read to find this folder? Is it linked off my dashboard somewhere? Cause that would be logical.

Oh, I thought you were looking for those files, sorry.
Well if you click on an item in your media library it will open a page with all information in a box on the right…
    Am I wrong?

Yes, but Customizr is supposed to create 3 sizes from the file I upload, but I still only have 1 size of each file. The walk thru says the 3 files will be in my “/upload” folder, but I don’t seem to have one. Do I have to resize all of the images myself?

    Walk thru: https://www.themesandco.com/customizr/
    – click “image sizes” on the left

This is how I installed WP:

Yes, but there (where I told you to go) you can see just the original media. If you could go in the dir wp-content/uploads (and probably in a subdir YYYY/MM if you set the option “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders” in Settings -> Media ) you can see those thumbnails.. probably.
You don’t have access to the file system?

Anyway sometimes thumbnails with custom formats are not re-generated so I use this plug-in : https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

Is that directory on my computer? I don’t have anything wordpress installed on my computer, I’m just using it online (see youtube video). Do I need to set this up? I’m already using the regenerate plug in

Sorry I forgot that you already told me that you use regenerate thumbnails.
Look, I don’t know why you want to do that.
You asked where are those thumbnails I answered.
You’re using it online but on the web server there is the wordpress tree.
So if you go in Control Panel (I see that in the video) -> FTP you can see that tree.

If you have uploaded an image and Customizr was active when you uploaded it, you won’t need to use regenerate thumbnails. The theme will automatically create all the sizes.

If, on the other hand, another theme was active, then you may need to use it. But you don’t need to know the sizes to use regenerate thumbnails. It picks up all the sizes from the theme.

But to answer your original question in any case, Customizr specifically creates images at:

    • 270px x 250px (for the featured images)
    • 1170px x 500px (for the slider when limited to 1170)
    • 99999px x 500px (for the slider when full width — allowing your slides to be as wide as you like, but bounded by a 500px height limit)

This is in addition to the image sizes that are specified in WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Media, which I’m pretty sure are defaulted to:

    • 150px x 150px (thumbnail)
    • 300px x 300px (medium)
    • 1024px x 1024px (large)

In all cases, for retina support, Customizr also creates images that are twice as large for retina devices. So, for example, if you have an image that is 1080×1000, then for your 270×250 featured image size, Customizr will also create:

    • filename-270x250.ext, which is 270x250px; and
    • [email protected], which is 540x500px — giving double pixel density for retina devices.

    Notes:

    • The numbers above are maximum dimensions. So if you upload a 400x600px image, then the 150x150px thumbnail will be sized at 100x150px. Whereas if you upload a 600x400px image, then the 150x150px thumbnail will be sized at 150x100px. (The aspect ratio is preserved); and
    • Extra images are only created if the uploaded image is larger than the image required. So if, for example, you upload a 200x200px image, WordPress/Customizr will create a 150x150px thumbnail, but will not create any of the others. There is never any scaling up of images.

If for some reason images don’t exist, Regenerate Thumbnails will recreate them for you. But the average user (one who is not swapping themes while uploading) will never need to use it,

(Apologies for the long exposition, but a few people have asked in the past about this, so it’s good to get it all down.)

@ef, how about adding a snippet sometime? Another great explanation.

    @electric feet:

“But to answer your original question in any case, Customizr specifically creates images at:

    OK.. so how do I change the limit from 99999 x 500px to 99999 X 700px ?

    Thanks;

    Doug

    OK.. so how do I change the limit from 99999 x 500px to 99999 X 700px ?

If you do that, the slider won’t work properly.

What exactly are you trying to achieve?

    Hello ElectricFeet,

I would like to change the 270×250 featured image size.
I do not know how to do this again. I used to be able to control it with function.php, but it is not working anymore.

I’m not using any hover effect, no white border. I just would like the featured page images to be rectangular and to be able to control its extact ratio.

I’m using featured page unlimited, with Customizr.

Any help would be very welcome,
    Best wishes
