From a WordPress page I’ve been linking to a directory under Public HTML and a peer to wp-content. It was a convenient place to locate PDF document files and have the list of files displayed when a user would click on the link. (I used the link icon to create a link to a web directory where I would ftp the documents.)

EG: https://website.org/documents where the directory “documents” is peer to “wp-content” used to display a list of the PDF files I’d FTP.

It used to work just fine, and is still working on another WP website I maintain, but now WordPress intercepts the link, and displays the page:
This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help

Any idea what is going on here?
