Lost widget on home page

I have a static page set as the front page, but the sidebar widget isn’t appearing. When I set a different page to the home page, the sidebar widget appears correctly on the original page (but not the new frontpage)

I have set the sidebar widget for the Frontpage to have items, and that doesn’t appear at any time (posts or static pages). I removed the widget sidebar items, and set the page to full width – the text goes to full width but the images in a tiled mozaic remain with an element style of 765px.

I set the right sidebar on the page concerned to No 1, and entered items in Alt Sidebar 1, but it doesn’t appear if this page is the front page.

I assume this is about the Frontpage (whatever page or post I choose), and not the page itself.

I do need the gallery to be full width. I would be happy to either get a sidebar to appear so the narrow gallery looks fine, or to get the entire page to full width.

Please can anyone help?
