    Alex,

Thanks very much for the latest update!

Would it be possible to make the template for questions into a custom post type? Then each pot would be a category.

This would make it possible to see every question I’ve got, and to move them all around as I’d like (using an appropriate plugin). We could still use the shortcodes for each question too.

    Hi,
I’ve spoken to a few people about this, and we agree it might be useful in some situations.
However, it would require a substantial rewrite of most of the core code and would only benefit a few theme developers such as yourself.

The majority of end users wouldn’t actually be writing themes and code hacking.
However, I could develop an API to get you what you need if you we’re interested.
For the time being, at least, I don’t think it’s time efficient to rewrite as a custom post type. Great idea though! And thanks again for the input,

    Alex,

Thanks for getting back to me on this. Actually, I am not really a theme developer, and I cannot write PHP at all (other than copying and pasting scripts of others!) so I doubt that an API would help me.

I am a site developer and content creator, though, and really appreciate not only the consistency of having every plugin utilize the content it controls in a similar manner but also the flexibility that such an approach provides me.

Nevertheless, I do appreciate that this would be a significant amount of work for you, so understand that this isn’t something you want to do (at least at this stage).

    Alex,

Would you be interested in making questions a custom post type as a paid customization? I’ve just come across this resource and I wondered whether it might smooth the path sufficiently for you to consider it!

Hi – I don’t really have time to do this job at the moment, but a colleague of mine may be interested. He is an experienced plugin developer and I’ll ask him to get in touch.

Thanks for the offer, Simon, but I was hoping to work with one of the plugin’s original developers. I had imagined that Alex had been referring to the other person named as developing this plugin. Your own current plugin is very different from this one.

So thanks for the offer, but it’s not really what I had in mind.

Hello again. Simon has been working with me on the latest version and knows the plugin inside out. His name will be on the latest release that addressees a number of bug fixes and UI improvements.

He also a more experienced plugin developer than me and is author of the most popular MP3 player plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/mp3-jplayer/

Basically, I would trust his capability!

    Kind regards,
    Alex

Ah, I see! In that case, I’ll get in touch with Simon via his website.

    Thanks!
