Home page to show only summary, but displays the whole story

  • In the “reading” settings, I have a blog set to show “summary” and not full text, but the blog appears to still show full text. I’m using the Twenty Twelve theme, but have tried a few themes and this seems to remain. The posts are not long, but still show more than I would expect from “summary” Any thoughts on how to fix this, or a place to specify the size of the summary?

    That is for your site’s RSS feed – not the site’s post display. Have you tried using the <!--more--> tag to crate a post teaser as explained in customising the read more?

    The reason it is ‘not working’ is because that setting is for the RSS feed. What I think you want is to use the_excerpt.

    If you create a child theme you can change a few things to get what you want it just depends on how comfortable you are with code. ??

    Thx Jose, that makes sense, although I’m not at all comfortable with code.
