• Many college and high school educators see the potential benefits of blogging, such as increased peer-to-peer learning and student-instructor contact, but need guidance about how to implement instructional blogging from a technical and instructional perspective. Filling that need is Blogs for Learning (https://www.blogsforlearning.msu.edu), a robust community-based online resource dedicated to providing instructors and students with information about the technical and pedagogical aspects of blogging within the classroom. Blogs for Learning features The Learning Curve, a discussion blog where students and teachers can talk about blogging in the classroom, and a library of articles written by teachers, noted academics, and students discussing the pedagogical, legal, and technical aspects of educational blogging. The site also includes a collection of how-to interactive tutorials designed to help educators and students with the more technical aspects of working with a blog.

    About Blogs for Learning

Blogs for Learning was originally conceived by Dr. Ethan Watrall and Dr. Nicole Ellison, and was created with the generous support from the College of Communication Arts and Sciences and the Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies, and Media at Michigan State University. you are quite welcome. Right now, we’re trying to get the word out – bring eyeballs to the site. If anyone is interested in helping out with that, they can digg the story of our launch at https://digg.com/design/Blogs_for_Learning_Launches

Blogs for Learning is actually built off a WordPress install. If anyone is interested in what we did, I’d be more than happy to share.

Your site looks great. I hope to register and visit periodically. I really like the flash tutorials. How did you make them as I would like to do something like that for the adult students I teach.

I have tried using my blog in my classes, but was never successful in getting my adult students to participate. Maybe it’s an age thing. Now, I’m trying to use a forum as the mechanism for class participation. I noticed you didn’t have anything about forums per se on your site. Is this because you lump blogs and forums together? Or maybe you just need to add “using forums” in education.

Yup – very nice…. but I don’t do the whole “social crap” thing….
