Update to use built-in WP media player?

I haven’t used this plugin yet, but am looking into it. I noticed the FAQ still says it uses FlowPlayer. Since WP started including a pretty decent player built-in, couldn’t this just strip the player out, and use the one built-in to WP? That would make the plugin more lightweight and simple. Or am I missing something?
