  • @webbrewers,

    This is available as an option because some sites are set up for end users by web design services so the web design service is the first admin. The end user is also set as an admin account and both the design service and the end user want the emails to look like they come from the end user, not the design service.

    so, Subscribe2 creates a drop down of user accounts at admin level. You may even have set the site up yourself using [email protected] but want your emails to come from another address like [email protected]. so, you could create a new user with a disposable and secure password as you’ll never log in on that account and then use that account as the sender while keeping your own usual log in and password.

    Ok, so say I now want emails to send from a different admin id like [email protected] which is not the “creator” id, how would I do that? Changing the name in the drop down has zero effect and emails always show the original id.
    Or is the send from name always going to be the #1 id?

    @webbrewers,

    If you want to use a different address as the sender create a new administrator level user account using the email address you want to use. Give it a nice name too. After it is created look at the Subscribe2 drop down and you will have a new option in the list.

    That’s what I’ve been doing – what I’m saying is changing the send from address doesn’t work.
    Here’s a pic of the settings and the email received:

    @webbrewers,

    What other plugins are you running? This works fine for me so I’m wondering if there is another plugin on your site that is reseting the headers created by Subscribe2.

    I tried default 2014 theme – no change. Should I try disabling the plug ins?

    @webbrewers,

    I’m not familiar with any of those plugins so disable them all and try again.

    Plugs in deactivated, default 2014 theme and no change. Email still sent from the original admin id.
    Maybe I should just delete other users so only the one I want is left. Or make it the #1 in the database?

    Thread Starter webbrewers

    (@webbrewers)

    I changed the user to ID #1 in the database and that did the trick. So I guess it’s stuck on the default original user for some reason.

    @webbrewers,

    Very strange but at least you have it working now.

    I checked again today and it reverted to only sending from the original id.
    I noticed this site was having issues with image meta data too which is an unresolved bug in the 3.8.1 auto update. I fixed that but can’t fix subscribe2.

    @webbrewers,

    Have you tried reinstalling WordPress and checking the database is not in need of repair?

    Thread Starter webbrewers

    (@webbrewers)

    No, but I deleted the original “admin” user and that seemed to fix it. I suspect the 3.8.1 auto update somehow messes up meta data in the database and is causing all sorts of problems like this.

    @webbrewers,

    You do seem to have some bizarre meta data corruption or something going on. I would recommend a repair attempt is tried. These steps might help:
