• Hi guys,

Today I updated the WordPress SEO and all of a sudden my whole site crashed. I was able to fix the problem which was WP minify plugin. But the thing is this plugin was working with SEO before the update and it was really helpful since my site ran faster. Any ides how can I make it work again with SEO(after today’s update)?

    Thank you

  • Hi there,

yes I can confirm that. Not working with minify, causing serious problems with the pageload, showing at the beginning a plain HTML view without CSS.

    Please fix.

    Thanks

    Hi rodgonz,

Exactly what I have experienced today! Plain HTML at my front page or any other page for that matter.

    Fix?Anyone?

    Hi InspirioN,

there was no other way than rolling back. I installed 1.5.2.2 and at least this annoying problem disappeared.

    1.5.2.2 can be downloaded here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordpress-seo/developers/

    Hope that helps

Interesting. The only minifiable file which was touched between v1.5.2.2 and v1.5.2.3 was the minified wordpress-seo/css/wpseo-rtl.min.css file. Are you on a RTL site ?

If I would re-minify that file, would either or you be willing to upgrade again & overwrite that one file via FTP with one I provide to test if that fixes it ?

    Hi jrf,

not sure if it is really the WP minify that causes the error with version 1.5.2.3. But the fact is that after downgrading to 1.5.2.2 the page is loading as it should (and as it was without using 1.5.2.3) – without being showed for a short time (less than 1 second) in “pure HTML” without calling CSS.
About your proposal: I′m sorry, but due to the massive traffic of the site there can not be done a live-testing.

    Cheers

    Hi guys,

I have tried your solution to roll back and install the previous version, but no luck. Still when I activate minify the same thing happens. I have no clue what is wrong. Do you know any other plugin that could speed up my site, except for minify?

    Cheers

I think this may have something to do with a specific change in v1.5.2.3 which will actually be changed again in the next version as – even though it solved one problem -, it’s causing others, but as @inspirion says that v1.5.2.2 has the same problem, I cannot be sure.

I’ve opened a GitHub issue for this now.

I’ve also seen some older threads suggesting this may be to do with the force rewrite title functionality and that it might be solved if you uncheck that box.

@inspirion Did you test after clearing all caches to make sure WP minify actually recreates the file ?

Alternatives to make a site faster are Caching plugin such as WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache and/or CDN plugins.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Yeah I have WP Super Cache and I tried to clean cache but no effect. I deactivated all the plugins, one by one, and only after I deactivate minify the site works as it should. I will just stop using minify for some time, until these is a solution to this problem. Tnx for your help, it is appreciated!

    Best regards
