• Hello,

I wanted to use this plugin to disable feeds for a websites custom post type pages so that the “comment feed” urls for those pages would redirect to the html version. The reason I want to do this is the comment feed urls for these custom post type pages don’t exist and are throwing up lots of 404s on Google Webmaster Tools.

I configured the settings to redirect to the html version of the content and also checked the box for keeping the main feed and comments feeds active. Saved settings and tested. Nothing happened.

I unchecked the box for keeping the main feeds, saved and tested. Nothing happened.

It appears this plugin doesn’t work at all in 3.8.1. Or perhaps it has a conflict with another plugin on the site (although everything else looked and behaved normally).

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

The plugin has been tested on 3.8.1 so it seems to be an issue with your particular instance. Can you post a link to a feed URL that isn’t being redirected?

Same problem here. Here’s an example link:

@understandchristianity I’m not able to access your site at all (Error 503 service unavailable).

Sorry, was having server issues. Up and running now (should be). Please try again. Thanks!

@understandchristianity I am getting a page not found error for that link, which means the feed has been disabled as it should be (what are you getting? – if you are getting a feed then it is almost certainly a cached version in your browser).

If you want the URL to be redirected to the parent page, you need to make sure that the Redirect feed requests to corresponding HTML content setting in Settings -> Discussion is checked.

Yep, that’s the problem. As Tate-Ramingham stated above, the feeds are giving 404s even with the “Redirect feed requests to corresponding HTML content” option is checked.

Any thoughts on why it isn’t redirecting?

I was not able to find a specific conflict with the plugins you have listed, but have just released an update (version 1.3) which tries a different redirection method if the first one fails. Please try this version and let me know if it works.

It still does not redirect to relevant content. Is there a way to point it to the same URL minus the /feed on the end?

That it exactly what it should be doing. It works on every system I have tested on, so I don’t know why it isn’t working for you.

I am not able to test with your theme because it is proprietary – so that is the only thing I can suggest that is the problem.

Ok, thank you for looking into it, and thank you for the quick replies!
