    Hello again Jacob,

What determines the order that Import uses when uploading from a zip? I have one album (of many) which has uploaded my photos in reverse number order – that is number 50 is first and number 1 is last. The order in the zip is 1 to 50. This is nothing to do with preferences because all of my other albums are OK. The actual output on the website is OK because I’m using sort by name. I’ve tried deleting the files and uploading again and even deleting and re-creating the album. I see I can reverse the order one at a time in SEQ but I’m not going to move 50 photos by hand.

    Thanks
    Charles

What determines the order that Import uses when uploading from a zip?

The order that the server places the file-entries into the directory record ( filesystem ). The zips are unpacked file by file the order they are packed. The servers file system may decide on what empty slots and therefor also in what physical order in the directory records the pointers to the files are stored.
    In other words: totally unpredictable.

The actual output on the website is OK because I’m using sort by name.

    What is the problem then???

Not a big deal it’s just that in the Admin of that album all the pics are reversed so adding any captions or any other info would have to be done in reverse order. I just wondered if there was something I did to produce this result. Thanks

The album admin -> Manage Photos lists the photos in the same order sequence as at the frontend. See the Photo order selection box in the album admin. If — default — it uses setting Table IV-C1, except random

Got it, thanks. Table IV_C1 was set to ‘timestamp’ – I changed it to ‘Name’ and since the photos are numbered it worked, but oddly when I did a test and changed it back to ‘timestamp’ they were still in the correct order. I’ve left it on ‘Name’ since that’s the ‘Photo Order’ as well.
