Search doesn't honor the customized pdb_list template

Not sure where I’m going wrong.

[pdb_list template=private fields=”last_name,first_name,street,phone,email” search=”true” orderby=”last_name” sort=true]

All looks fine however a couple of issues:

1. Only First Name & Last Name show up in the Sort By drop down despite all fields being set with Sortable ‘On’ in the database fields. How can I make all the fields sortable in that drop down list?

2. Search does show all the fields, however when it returns records, it seems to use a different ‘pdb_list’ template with only First Name and Last Name being displayed. How can I make it continue to honor the existing pdb_list template?
