• Hello I created my new wordpress website on my hosting temporary url https://0390602.netsolhost.com and left the main address/url https://www.stellamarisresort.com on the old server active while I created the new site on the new server. I am now ready to point the main address/url to the new wordpress website that is now on the temporary address. The thing is the new wordpress site is configured for the temporary address and everything on the site uses that url. I was wondering the best/easiest way to make sure the website will be active when the new main domain points to it. I’m no expert, but I was thinking before I point the new main address https://www.stellamarisresort.com to the wordpress site I can login through the temporary address and go to Settings – General & change the WordPress Address (URL) & Site Address (URL) to the new main domain https://www.stellamarisresort.com and once the new main domain successfully points to the wordpress site it will automatically be configured and be up and running. Is this theory correct? hope you guys understand what I’m trying to say. If this theory cannot work what is the best option that I should try? Let me know ASAP. Really need to get this going! Thank you in advance!

I was thinking before I point the new main address https://www.stellamarisresort.com to the wordpress site I can login through the temporary address and go to Settings – General & change the WordPress Address (URL) & Site Address (URL) to the new main domain https://www.stellamarisresort.com and once the new main domain successfully points to the wordpress site it will automatically be configured and be up and running.

Correct. The only “downside” is that when you change the URLs, that site won’t work anymore when you access it at https://0390602.netsolhost.com (because the new URL doesn’t really point to your new site yet), but that’s OK.

Once the new URL is active and pointing to your new site, it should all be fine.

Exactly what I was thinking Senff. I dont want it to be pointing to the old temporary url anymore anyway. So it will permanently be on the new main Url. So once I make those changes with the WordPress Address (URL) & Site Address (URL) through the old temp address first then point the new main domain to the hosting with the wordpress site once the pointing is complete and the new domain is on the new hosting it should be able to perform correctly right?

    Yup, that’s right!
