spam/junk mail issues

  • After sending dozens of invites and getting no signups I confirmed with a lot of folks that they never got the initial invite. Since I always receive it when I do tests (and since I don’t have any spam filters on my email accounts which are all personal domains) my conclusion is that most people aren’t getting it because they use gmail, juno, hotmail, etc.

    So just a suggestion to look into formatting changes for future versions to make the emails more spam proof. (Such as the structure of the links, use of ——– as a separator, etc. Just guessing those are the elements that are triggering spam filters.)

    Thinking that a solution to this problem (which seems to be pretty pervasive as only about HALF of the people I invite ever see the emails) could be an invite code.

    So a person that wants to invite a friend sends out their own invitation code to friends which has to be entered when someone signs up.

    That’s a good idea, however it would be better for the emails to work! For a future version of Secure Invites I’ll look at making the formatting of the email different.

    Oh, by the way, you can actually change the email template yourself. If you go to Tools > Invites and choose “Custom settings” you can edit the email which is sent.
