no tweets display, no errors in error log

    hi, i’m trying to implement your plugin on a site i’m working on, and no tweets will display. i know this won’t give you enough information to go on, so i’m curious to ask, where and how can i view the errors being generated? how can i troubleshoot this myself?

    (my hunch is that there’s a permissions or access problem with where ever the tweet data is supposed to cache. so if you could tell me where the twitter data would be stored locally, that might be helpful too.)

    Hi Joe,
    please verify that the Twitter account and authentication data is correct (no spaces or tabs before or after the letters) and the Twitter account has some public tweets. To get more error info please enable the “debug” option on the widget settings form. If you have enabled some caching plugin try to disable it for a moment, also try the “erase_cached_data” option to clean the widget cache.

    so, i’ve tested the twitter account and authentication data in another server environment, and it works with your plugin. and i’ve also enabled the debug option. here’s what we see in the log… any idea what it might mean?

    can i also ask, where is this cached data is stored & what permissions are required to that directory?

    I just updated to from WP 3.8.1 to WP 3.8.2 and also no twitter output now. Site cache was cleared.

    we’ve had this issue for a long time now, through several WP upgrades and plugin configurations. again, my gut feeling is that the plugin is unable to write to the cache because of permissions. but if you could look at the error logs and let me know what that looks like to you, i’d appreciate that.

    Hi Joe,
    the plugin cache (WordPress transients) is stored on the database, I don’t think this is the cause. Your PHP errors show that the plugin isn’t able to access its own base configuration, it seems like the PHP version is really outdated (if so, this could explain why the plugin is working in your other site with the same config). Can you tell the PHP version on your server?

    yes, we have tried to enable the ‘erased cache data’.

    are there any other places we should try looking for any error logs that might be helpful?
