• I am a new to these forums and perhaps this has already been discussed elsewhere, however: I have freshly installed WP 3.8 for the first time having never before used it on the current host servers or this terminal before. I have no plugins and only the standard single theme installed.
The problem is that it takes about 3 minutes to login, and every page of function takes about the same time. However, most of the time it simply times out before any page or function can do anything.

I have read a lot of posts here and elsewhere and none of it helped. I am not a techie, I do not know any coding and I am frustrated as hell. I cannot even install any plugins that may help.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    John

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Thank you for the reply, but as I stated in my post, I have no plugins installed and only the default theme installed to begin with. No files or anything for that matter uploaded because nothing can be uploaded due to the admin side being so slow that it times out before anything can be don.

have you contacted your hosting provider about this?

    Hey John,

If you’re running stock WordPress 3.8, and default theme, this is probably going to be something on your hosting provider’s end. It could be that the server is overloaded, or possibly your account is being throttled with something like CloudLinux.

Are you on a cPanel based platform? If you login to your hosting control panel, are there any metrics on if your site is hitting limits or bottlenecks?

I definitely recommend you open a ticket with your provider.

    Thanks!
