I had the Better WP Security plugin installed on my site – https://www.learningviavideo.com

The usual WP message to update plugins appeared in my WP Dashboard. One update was for the Better WP Security plugin. When I updated, there were numerous warnings that my theme didn’t have certain requirements for the iThemes Security to work properly.

So I decided to deactivate Better WP Security or iThemes Security – or whatever… to uninstall it and use a different security plugin.

A “deactivate” button was available and there was no warning against deactivating, but deactivating now prevents access to my backend. I can’t access the Dashboard of the website at all. The web pages show up, but not the WordPress Dashboard. How do I get back access to the back end? I’ve got deadlines to meet. I can’t have this.

Now I’m reading in the IThemes Security Forum that all this is happening as a ploy to get me to buy the IThemes Security Pro version,

Exactly the same problem here. After running my plugin updates, I got a dialog about iThemes security. I had no idea what it even was, so my first thought was to go disable it. After disabling it I can’t login to any of my WordPress sites. Luckily, I only disabled it on two before I realized it was a problem. I’ve tried renaming the better-wp-security plugin folder to tmp-better-wp-security and I still have the problem.

This is a very poor experience. I’ve tried:
https://www.mysite.com/login — redirects to https://www.mysite.com/wp-login.php
https://www.mysite.com/wp-admin — redirects to https://www.mysite.com/wp-admin/

All of the above URL’s time out. I don’t recall setting up a https: / secure server for login. Can someone please share any insights on fixing this, uninstalling Better WP Security/iTumes Security.

What you need is #2.

2. Check your wp-config.php file.
Make sure you don’t have these:
```
define( 'FORCE_SSL_LOGIN', true );
define( 'FORCE_SSL_ADMIN', true );
```
If you do, delete them.
