Are you sure this was part of core to begin with and not from a plugin/ theme?

in the old version you click on an image, click advanced settings and voila, you can edit image properties – border, vertical space, horizontal space.

Now what, I have to edit the image in a program like Photoshop to add a border or padding. Ridiculous.

Yeah, hooray, great I can drag and drop images… But why take away features I use every time I post?

    Can’t see my response.

    Having the exact same problem.

In 3.8, you were able to add styles to images, or add image properties- now in 3.9, you’re not able to anymore.

This is a big problem for people who format multiple images across a post, or simply want custom padding between and image and text.

Obviously you can still add the style into an image by adding style right before the alt:

    <p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2890" style="padding-right: 10px;" alt="Why did this option leave?" src="yourimageurl" width="634" height="552" /></p>

I can confirm that indeed, WordPress 3.8 had the settings eric and others are talking about.

    WP38MediaSettings

I’ve looked around in WordPress 3.9 and I don’t see the same options.

Agreed. I want these features back. Jeff thanks for the image!

I’ve used the image spacing and padding in WordPress since early 3.x. Now it’s totally gone. Sure, I can manually add it in html to the post, but that seems ridiculous in 2014. And no, I don’t want to have to define custom CSS image classes for image spacings- the old function allowed on-the-fly spacing adjustments as needed for each image.

**Wow, so either the forum is overrun with people upset with the 3.9 changes, or the search feature is broken, but I had to go through google to find this thread. Maybe for the sake of usability, it would be better if WordPress would ditch their custom forum code and use an established forum project?

The padding stuff was removed when the image editor was “improved” – WordPress.com does Beta testing for this and the peasants with pitchforks thread is way over 400 entries with people upset – all the staff can do currently is to post how to do padding in html – which amazingly has now been hailed as a “great leap forward” (the ability to scale images was missing for a few weeks and had to be done in html)

You are lucky here – someone should be able to write or modify a Plugin to give you the functions that many use everyday – the .com folks are stuck with html coding and no Plugin chance

decisive, eric.. the same thing has happened to me on four of my sites that automatically upgraded. It was so much easier to click on the pictures, and adjust the borders horizontally and vertically, and also make any adjustments to the text while you were doing that; but now, you basically have no control over the picture, unless you add more to the img command itself, after the picture is already up. That just takes another 10 to 15 seconds typing it in. More of a pain.

Also I have noticed the Word command it gone. Just the Text command is left.

What else was taken from us?

The Word Command is no longer needed. Paste from Word, directly into WordPress. And you can thank TinyMCE 4 for that one ??

Want these features back for images!!! The ability to add borders & margins in from Image Details makes life so much easier!

You can edit the CSS by adding an Image CSS Class.

Yes, obviously there are workarounds, but I want the other one back. Why in the world was it removed! What a hassle this has become. Now I have to manually change the URL codes, sizes, and such. Sigh.

I totally agree, I want this feature back as well! ??
