Widget Landing Page – How To Remove Or Hide

Has anyone at least experienced the same thing with the new “Widget Landing Page”?

No one answered the question(s), but the Widget Landing Page finally disappeared. Well, at least it’s not there anymore.

I’ve hit the same exact thing with several sites when upgrading. On one of them, each time I’ve gone to the pages and removed that widget landing page, it’s shown up in my main nav menu a second, even a third time. Don’t have a clue what it is, where it’s coming from or why…

that was happening all day yesterday… and then today, after I deleted it again, first thing in the morning, it never came back…

really weird, because my three other websites did nothing like this… very strange

at least the problem is gone – you don’t want your visitors to see that weird-looking page at the top of your menu

Happened to me on three of 15 WP installations; no apparent rhyme or reason. On one, deleting the page caused it to multiply; on another deleting it removed it from nav menu, then it would show right back up on refresh for 4 or 5 cache clear cycles. I’d really love to know, at the very least, is this a plugin issue or is this something that rushing through to WP 3.9 has done? (I’ve already rolled a couple back to ver. 3.8.3 – as much a pain that is.)

I’m about to come to the conclusion that “Smith” isn’t ready for prime time. What’s the rush anyway?

Addendum to my previous. This may or may not be related to WP 3.9, but it’s the wp photo album plus plugin. I’m not really sure why someone would design in an automatic page that’s created with no admin notice / permission at all. I’ve rolled back all my sites that have this plugin back to the latest version I have backed up that I know works – ver. 5.2.21. I don’t think I’ll be updating this again until this feature is either gone or the bugs worked out of it.

I would not downgrade my websites to a lower version of WordPress. That’s probably asking for more problems, especially if you have a lot of plugins or widgets going on the website.

DO NOT UPGRADE!!! “Smith” looks great but you’ll be sorry if you upgrade to 3.9! The upgrade deleted all my widgets – I updated end of last week, went on vacation and now back to work and all widgets are GONE! I am getting NO help in the WordPress forums – no themes have been updated, all cache has been deleted (I’ve refreshed) 3.9 wiped my “home page” and info clean to the extent that I’m having to completely redo it all! Would love to go back in time and undo the upgrade or better yet, hear from someone from WordPress as to why this is happening and HOW TO FIX!

What theme are you referring to, I can’t find one called “smith” https://www.ads-software.com/themes/

@stek Please do create a new support thread for your specific issue and add a link here to it. In the post, provide details about your site, like the theme being used, the plugins which are activated, what kind of automatic updates you have in place (the default is to update only minor releases). Is there anyone else who administers the site besides you?

STEK: I haven’t seen any other reports specifically for your issue where simply upgrading to WordPress 3.9 causes all widgets to become deactivated. So I am not well aware of your issue. The only issue related to what you have reported is https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/27897

So yes, please do create a new post about your issue. You’re commenting on an issue that is not related to the issue you had.

You haven’t seen other issues like I’m having? You seemed well aware of them earlier today on Facebook.
