• It seems Woocommerece (2.1.7)’s standard paypal integration does NOT work for credit cards, only for paypal account holders.

Why? How can we make it work?

Its’ been reported before but no solution proposed. It seems clear the issue is with woocommerce and not with paypal. I have tested with paypal accounts that offer credit card payment with other shopping carts.

A strange experience I had: I tested a number of times and ONCE, the paypal page suddenly unexpectedly offered: To pay with credit card and nothing else (no paypal account). But unfortunately it was only once. The next time it reverted back to the woocommerce integration behaviour which is:

    Pay with my PayPal account
    Create a PayPal account

What I normally would expect is:

Log in to your account to complete the purchase
Pay with a debit or credit card

  • I am facing same problem, and it seems to be a statistic one. First I set up a sandbox account I created under my paypal account. Everything fine. Then I use clients paypal account –> no credit card option on paypal login page. Then I switch to my personal live paypal –> credit card option on login (though I did not configure IPN or return URL in that paypal acocunt). I switch back to client paypal user, no credit card on login for the first day. Another day I tried the same using Macbook Pro in other place, credit card option appeared (client also uses a mac and had no luck). … Would be nice, just to remove the hint, that standard module enables you to receive credit-card-payment, that holds at least not true for many people.
