• Hello all,

    And welcome to another brand-spankin’ new WordPress user’s question.
    I’m using WordPress 3.9 through my web host (GoDaddy) for a new website.
    I’ve been a Dreamweaver Hand-coder for a while, but new to WordPress.
    I’m having a problem with my WordPress Address.

    I’ve created a new domain called Celynbooks.com
    This Domain is an alias domain for my personal site hollandartworks.com (I cannot change that so don’t suggest!)

    As such WordPress is rooted in \Celynbooks folder in my FTP.
    The issue is that the Url is;
    hollandartworks.com/celynbooks

    These sites are separate and so the Url needs to just show Celynbooks.com
    I’ve looked at the “Moving WordPress” guide and at quite a few other questions on similar issues to no avail.

    When I go into wordpress>General and try and change JUST the WordPress Address URL I get kicked out and can’t log back in.

    I’m not moving the root folder WordPress is looking for, I just need the URL to show Celynbooks.com instead of Hollandartworks.com/Celynbooks (even though that’s truly where it’s getting the info).

    Any help is appreciated, but try and explain it simply because I am new to the WordPress system.

    Thank-you for your reply, but I’m afraid that did not solve my problem.

    First I followed the heading “Pointing your home site’s URL to a subdirectory” at the bottom and had no success. I did have to make my own .htaccess file for that though, so there’s a potential problem.

    Secondly, I followed the heading “Using a pre-existing subdirectory install” and got stuck on step 6 (logging back in). I get a Internal Server error (500) and am now locked out of my WordPress application.

    I’m not sure if the “Pointing your home site’s URL to a subdirectory” part is the solution I’m looking for however. I do not want to redirect hollandartworks.com traffic to celynbooks.com. I just want to clean up the URL for celynbooks.

    Thanks again, but need more help!
