I have been using Contact Form 7 on my client sites for a long time, with never any problems. Now that I have updated WordPress to V 3.9, now Contact Form 7 won’t work in an existing live client website. HOWEVER, I have Contact Form 7 also loaded into the test site used to design this same website and it works just fine. In each case I am using the standard pre-designed form that comes with Contact Form 7. I have beat my head against the wall trying to figure out why I can’t get Contact Form 7 to work on the live website. For now I have to remove the form from the live website until I can find out how to fix this problem. Any help would be very much appreciated.

  • @printmagic I am having the same issue as well. In fact, I have been having form issues all the around out side of contact form 7. Let me know if you find a solution. I will do the same for you. Thanks.

Just updated WP 3.9 and discovering the same frustrating hiccup in the contact form -it won’t save my edits.

    Help!

    TIA,
    Lisa

The plugin is working for me on many different websites and several different servers. Any issue you have is almost certainly due to something on your local WP install.

@printmagic – please include a link to your Contact Form 7 form plus all your input in the Form and Mail sections of the CF7 interface. If others here are able to understand your actual problem, they may be able and willing to offer a possible solution.

@brandfection & EC (Lisa) Stewart – If you would like assistance on your particular issues, please post your own topic.

Posting in an existing topic prevents being able to track issues by topic. Added to which, your problem – despite any similarity in symptoms – is likely to be completely different.

Unfortunately, I can’t afford to show you what is happening with Contact Form 7 in this particular instance because this is a live political campaign website. Just can’t afford to have potential volunteers and/or constituents come to a site with a non-functional form. Not a good image for my client.

The best I can do is tell you that when every time I typed info into the form and submitted, I got a message at the bottom that said”Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact the administrator by another method.”

My best guess is that one of the other plugins is conflicting with the form. Unfortunately I need all the plugins that I have uploaded for this site.

We always have a development site setup as a sub-domain on the same server for every site we develop, for this and a host of other reasons. If you aren’t doing that for a major website, you are IMHO playing Russian Roulette with several chambers loaded. We would for example never update a plugin on a live site without testing first on the development site.

??Note however I wasn’t suggesting access to the WP admin side of your site. Just need the normal URL that everyone uses to look at the site with Firebug – this gives access to all the HTML, CSS & Javascript used on your site.

Also “your input in the Form and Mail sections of the CF7 interface??” can be cut and pasted into your comments here – just make sure you surround it with Code tags to avoid getting the Moderators cross.

RE: Unfortunately I need all the plugins that I have uploaded for this site.??

??The normal process, if you think you have a Javascript Conflict, is to disable (temporarily only) all other Javascript you have on your site, other than CF7, by switching to a default theme and disabling all other plugins. If CF7 works with that done, you then enable your theme and other plugins one by one until it stops working and you find the culprit.

Actually I did build a test site first and, until WordPress updated to 3.9, everything was going beautifully. Before I go any further the site in question is – fullerforcongress.com.

Now, a bit more back story – I am using Weaver II Pro on the website. I started development of the test site (jwspromotions.com/fullerforcongress2/) with Weaver II Pro V 2.1.1. Then I updated WordPress to 3.9 and everything blew up. There is a feature in the Weaver II Pro dashboard that allow you to update to the latest version by restoring the site with a new version, so I tried updating the Weaver them to V 2.1.10. However, this didn’t solve the specific problems I was having. At this point, Contact Form 7 was not an issue, it was working as expected. The test site which I have shown about at jwspromotions.com is still in this state.

I found, however, that the only way to clear up the core issues I was having with Weaver and WordPress were only really fixed by starting with a fresh install of Weaver II Pro V 2.1.10, rather than installing V 2.1.1 and updating using the internal tools inside of the Weaver dashboard. It is at this point that I started having problems with Contact Form 7.

Sorry to take up so much of your time with the back story but I thought it might help in getting to the bottom of what is wrong.

Thanks again. I truly appreciate all the support I am receiving on this issue. I have several other clients that will need the same fix as I move forward with updating their WordPress and Weaver themes.

Hi Todd. I guess you didn’t read the last post where I explained more of the back story behind this problem I am having with Contact Form 7. Suffice it to say, yes, I did see that post at the Weaver II Pro website, and I am long past that now. I would waste everyone’s time by explaining myself again. Read my last few posts and you will see where I am on this now. Thanks anyway,

    Your back story tells me:

    1. ?Your problems probably have nothing to do with CF7
    2. You are highly unlikely to be able to find and fix the problem on the live site
    3. You need to re-establish your development site where you can test things
    4. You may need to delete everything on the development site and start from scratch
    5. You probably should be seeking support with Weaver II Pro on this issue.

    Buzztone:

As I was going through the back story some of what you have outlined above crossed my mind. Not being an advanced expert, yet, I wanted to make sure that I covered every detail possible.

Fortunately, I still have the test site in place, so I am going to step backward through this test site and see if I can figure out at what point Contact Form 7 stops working.

Thank you all for your input. I truly appreciate all of your interest in helping me try to solve my problem.

    I’m having the same problem.

Mysteriously, Contact Form 7 worked fine for a while, seemingly compatible with all my other plugins.

…Then it mysteriously stopped working. For something as essential as a contact form, I recommend NOT using Contact Form 7.

A site’s contact form is crucial. You can’t just let us down like that.

Past threads have advised dumping Contact Form 7 and going with Jetpack instead. That just might be the best solution.

Hi All – I’ve been searching through a bunch of forums trying to work out what was causing a ‘red box’ error on Contact Form 7.

In my case, it was incompatible with “Intuitive Custom Post Order” plugin.

As soon as I uninstalled the above plugin, Contact Form 7 began to work again.
Replace the said plugin with “Simple Custom Post Order” and now all good.
