    Can anyone explain why this error comes up when I try and pull up my themes for advanced custom design?

    Typically that error occurs when you attempt to access a theme template file directly (which one is not meant to do).

    From my understanding you absolutely can. I’ve download a custom design wordpress from template monster. If they sell them then surely they know you can use them.

    smk2004, the error you are seeing is the result of doing bringing THIS:

    https://www.yourdomain.com/wp-content/themes/yourtheme/index.php

    up in a browser window.

    Thats what Moshu means. And thats not how theyre meant to be loaded.

    If you want to see the changes youve made to your theme, you need to make that theme active and bring up your site, the NORMAL way.
