How do I remove "Sample Page in permalink?

  • Got a problem, I have added a page to a wp blog, and when you click the link it is domain dot com / sample-page / page name

    How can I clear this? TO be domain dot com / page name

    I have edited the menu and the menu attributes on the page, to all point to “page name” I am using the Twenty Twelve theme.

    Can anyone advise, please??

    Sorry, also forgot – how do I remove the comment box on the homepage and inner pages!

    Does your page have a parent page? If it does that is the reason for the /sample-page/page-name url. If you update the parent to “(no parent)” this should go away.

    You can disable the “Allow people to post comments on new articles” setting on Settings > Discussion page.

    Also you can disable comments on individual pages by unchecking “Allow Comments” under the Discussion area of the editor. If you don’t see this section.

    1. Click on the “Screen Options” tab at top of the edit page
    2. Click on Discussion checkbox
    3. Scroll down and the Discussion section will be visible

    Thanks Matthew, followed you instructions for parent page and that was sorted. But the “Allow comments” box is unticked and the comment box is on the home page and other inner pages?

    Your website source is showing that you are using the Twenty Fourteen theme and the W3 Total Cache plugin. Can you clear your cache from W3 Total Cache and confirm if the comments box is still present afterwards?

    Performance > Dashboard > Empty all Cache

    Could I get some clarification on the parent page/sample-page issue? I want my pages to have parent pages so that I can use breadcrumbs, but when I set up the top-level pages in each sectionsto have home page as parent, suddenly /sample-page/ is inserted between the home page and top-level sections in the URL, and Home appears twice in the breadcrumbs.

    Hi, I tried the above Matthew, I actually removed the W3 plugin but the comment box is still there? I cannot find the other option “Screen options”.

    Any advise please?

    Try this.
    go to pages
    select quick edit on the page you see that is creating the sample-page in the permalink

    change the slug from sample-page to the new page title.

    That should be it ??
