error establishing a database connection dreamhost

WordPress.com user for years. New to www.ads-software.com. Nothing has even been created on the blog.
Struggling with my database connection at dreamhost. I have went through everything in this article: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-error-establishing-a-database-connection-in-wordpress/
I am very new to database, html, coding, etc so I may be missing something. I am also running on a mac if that makes a difference. I am starting to get really pissed.
