• hello there

I am using wordpress (ver 3.9) at my blog (www.nefsta-photography.com) and NextGen gallery 2.0.65.

Up until yesterday, the gallery was working just fine and all functions were available. I could add a gallery straight from within a post, add images and then embed it at the post just by pressing the green button at the menu. This morning I tried to repeat the usual steps but faced the following problem: although a new gallery was created and images were uploaded, the system won’t allow me to embed it from the pop-up menu. It also won’t allow me to edit other galleries inserted in the past using this menu. It WILL however allow me to insert ANY NextGen gallery at my post (including the newly created one) by using the old method. In other words by typing the command [nggallery id=***] (replace *** with actual numbers).

my site is not hosted on wordpress.com (if that makes any difference) and works more than fine in any other aspect…

    can someone please help!!!

here’s a screenshot of what I can see everytime I try to access the libraries section of NextGen. I can switch between galleries, albums etc, but whenever I am at the libraries section, the sub menu with the list of available libraries is vanished!!! In addition, if I choose to use an album, I can choose from the available ones (or create a new one), but I can not save the changes (and therefore I can not embed and use).

@nasose – If everything was working fine and then it stopped something must have changed … did you do any updates to other active plugins, or your theme?

Did you add any new plugins?

Did you web hosting service make any changes to your server environment?

well, I did update the plugins whenever there was something available, but I deactivated everything while testing but with no luck. Nextgen was working fine along with my current setup for almost 8-9 months.

as for my hosting provider, I dont know. But I dont think theyve changed anything, cause whenever they do change something they usually letme know via mail. I can check it out. What sort of changes am I looking at from their side?

I spoke to my hosting company and they told me that

“The latest update on HAVOC server, where your account is located, was on 2014-02-27 as per the server kernel upgrade.”

Since 2-27 and until yesterday, the plugin was working MORE than fine… Any ideas?

@nasose – Aside from a possible caching issue, what was the upgrade path you followed for NextGEN Gallery as over the last 8-9 months there have been some very significant changes to the codebase.

    (@nasose)

ALL updates were done follwing the notifications link and via the automatic update. I never updated the plugin manually via ftp and I never missed/skiped a version… I never skiped versions and updates at ANY blog element also…

if it is a caching issue, is there something I can do?

    Plugin Contributor photocrati

    (@photocrati)

@nasose – I’m suggesting a “cache” issue since you described everything working and then it stopped … so that being the case. If you are using a caching plugin, ensure all of its caches are cleared and then deactivate it (you may also need to clear some files manually depending on the caching plugin’s setup).

If there is server site caching, clear those caches and then temporarily disable it (this may require assistance from your web host).

Finally clear all of your browser caches … this is a real pain so you may be able to simply use your browser’s anonymous option (Incognito, InPrivate, Private, etc. … each browser has its own name for this option).

IF the issue still persists then it definitely eliminates a caching issue … otherwise we’ll probably need to get you to submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) so we can get a better look under the page.

    Thanks.

    hello,

    in regards to your comments/points:

    caching plugin: none used

browser(s) cache: clean but problem is still there (accessed the plugin area via 3 different browsers on laptop, smartphone, tablet)

server site caching: I do not have access at the server, so I guess I’ll have to ask my hosting company. correct? or is there a way to do it myself remotely?

I guess that I can not uninstall and reinstall the plugin since I will loose all images, correct?

    Plugin Contributor photocrati

    (@photocrati)

@nasose – Yes, please check with your hosting company to see if that is a standard service they run … some do.

As to uninstalling and reinstalling, it should be safe as we (temporarily) do not remove any files created by NextGEN Gallery such as the Galleries, Albums and stored images.

I try to add pictures to gallery and get the following messages:

Can anyone help me with this, really getting frustrated and to top things off it is being suggested to update to Pro, but this isn’t even working to make me want to update to Pro.

@pbks1040 why don’t you start a new topic with your problem?

Do I need to submit a bug report or is this something that I can fix, in trying to add images to a gallery I get this message:

Warning: include(\boswinfs03\home\users\web\b201\whl.dccunit193\U193\wp-content\plugins\nextgen-gallery\products\photocrati_nextgen\modules\nextgen_admin\templates\nextgen_admin_page.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in \\boswinfs03\home\users\web\b201\whl.dccunit193\U193\wp-content\plugins\nextgen-gallery\products\photocrati_nextgen\modules\mvc\class.mvc_view.php on line 99

If I can fix the problem myself please explain how. Keeping in mind that I am a NOVICE, please explain the steps for the fix in NOVICE terms, as if I know absolutely nothing.

Assistance with this would be greatly appreciated!

@pbks1040 – As @nasose asked, you should have started your own topic on this … please do and/or feel free to submit a Bug Report; but, please do not try to hijack the OP thread.

    Thanks!
