    Events Calendar –

I have run into multiple issues while attempting to use this plugin which I hope you can help address. As of now, the plugin is completely unable to be used.

I have attempted to change to a default theme, no luck. I have disabled each plugin one by one, no luck. I am currently running WordPress 3.5.1.

My events url slug is “events” – my single event url is “event”. Default events template is enabled. List & Month events view are checked. And Tribe Event Styles.

    1) The datepicker plugin is correctly allowing me to choose dates. ALthough on update of the event – the dates automatically revert back to today(may6th am – may 6th 5pm). I have tried editing an old event as well as creating a new event. Regardless, the dates revert back to “today”.

    2) I was getting the 404 page not found and pasted the snippet of code into functions.php that I saw on other pages. I have two events which are created, but are not showing on either the events page or the individual event.

    Events Page
    Individual Event

    3) Is there a auto-refresh occurs that appends query params onto the Events page?

  • I have similar issue. Month view seem allright, but when I try to switch list view from there, got page not found warning. This error is also seen when I click on the number of the day on calendar view. (Sample: https://835webworks.com/cocuk/events/2014-05-10/) This is the URL when I click the calendar’s 10th day. Along with this message “Not Found
Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help.”

    This should be a bug, I guess…

    Howdy gregegan8,

Good call on disabling the plugins and switching themes. Given that you have evidently tested both of those at the same time, that really narrows down the possible causes. I am suspicious of the following:
    1) Can you try upgrading to WP 3.9? In addition to getting numerous security patches and features, this might fix the above.
    2) It might have to with server side caching. Or perhaps it could even be some other aspect of your server that is conflicting with things.

I do not understand number 3 of yours. What do you mean there? Are asking if there is a server cron job, or a JS induced page refresh, etc. ? I suspect that the answer to your question will be no.

Hello to you too ertanatay. It sounds like your issue is unique from the OPs. Some themes basically override 404 pages with their own content. Some do not even rely on WP’ is_404() function for checking. When this happens glitches like yours occur. Have you seen the 3rd Party Event Rocket plugin? One of its features might actually fix this for you. I believe it is termed along the lines of a 404 laser. It basically converts WP Post not found pages, like our events ones, from 404s to 200 OK. If you need further assistance here would you mind opening a new topic please? We do find that our users are server best if topics are kept to one specific problem. Thanks!

    Cheers to you both!

Hey Brook, thanks for the response. So I setup a brand new wordpress installation on a completely different server – installed my theme and plugins, and get the same exact experience. This is wordpress 3.9 and still get the Page Not Found error.

I have a custom permalink format, could this cause issues?
    “/%category%/%postname%/”

I would be happy to give you admin access if you’d be willing to take a quick look at the WP install and possibly have an idea whats going on with the plugin.

Well you went all out in making sure it is not the server gregegan8. Thank you for documenting this! Very helpful.

It *could* be your custom permalink format. To be 100% positive that it is not say your custom permalink + some other plugin + TEC combining to create some strange issue, could you possible try the following?
    1. Disable all plugins except TEC
    2. Switch to the default 2013 or 2014 theme
    3. Change permalink formats to any of the WP provided ones

Now, would you mind trying things once again? It’s a little overkill, but perhaps you could also try flushing permalinks after all those steps. Does it work now? If so, reverse the steps one at a time until the problem resurfaces. Maybe that will help us find the culprit that is conflicting? Cheers!

I had the same issue until I messed around with the Display in Settings. I changed it and now it works…but I changed it back to Tribe and Page Template and it’s working fine… Not sure WHY it did that to begin with… maybe a bug?

    Hi b2995,

I’m glad to hear you got things working. I suspect that your theme was conflicting somewhat with our plugin and that changing the template corrected the issue.

Thanks for all your support. I now feel like an idiot though… I created one event in there during my first day of testing, and by default the event expired the same date as the creation date. I kept using that same event for testing purposes throughout this process, and kept getting the same page not found results… THe reason why was that event was expired. Guess I should have looked things over there before duplicating the installation, and going through all of the debug steps! hah. Glad it works though. THank you.
