  • A WordPress blog and act as your site. Is that what you are asking?

Yeah I think so. Like I already have a site ( https://www.walkinginchrist.org/vintage/index.html ) and I just want to add Wp to use as a blog, but keep my same layout. Does that make sense ?

So install WordPress into a folder say https://www.walkinginchrist.org/vintage/wordpress and then just provide a link to that in your index.html file you referenced.

Alright thanks, I’m going to try that.

Okay so I installed WordPress in it’s own folder and that went fine, but I haven’t been able to figure out just how I am suppose to like it to my index. Could anyone give me some suggestions, it would be much appreciated.

Open the header.php file of your theme (coffeecup?) in a plain text editor (like notepad) and find those lines where it says “space for your links…” and add a simple normal link to your main website.

But what if I’m not using a WP theme, I simply want to input the blog, with a normal site layout. Am I making any sense or am I being confusing? I don’t want to use a theme if I don’t have to because I make my own web layouts, I just want to use the blog.

Not entirely clear… because, seemingly, you don’t understand how WP works.
“I just want to use the blog…” – Where?

If you want your blog to llok like your site – you need to make a theme based on your site.

Well, I have a site layout put together already as far as content, and I wanted to add a blog to the main page. I didn’t want it to be a separate blog if it didn’t have to be. But I think what I am understanding is, the only way to have a blog on my site and keep the layout I already made would be to make it into a theme, correct?

    That’s one way.

You can also have displayed only your posts on the main page of your site (i.e. no header, no sidebar etc.)
and for that goal you can use several tools:
    – The Loop included in your main site
    (see this: https://www.transycan.net/blogtest/2005/07/05/integrate/ )
    – use your own RSS feed with a feedreader (search the forum)
    – use a recent_posts plugin

Note. Whichever methood you choose, if the links are alive in your blog (like the title=permalink, comment links etc.) they will always take you to the original blog with theme you have and, obviously, not looking like your main site.

Okay I think I get it, thanks a lot for the help I really appreciate it.
