Had my site running fine then broke it with a bad plugin installation (I think!)
-
I’m not a developer, so I really have no idea exactly how I broke my WP.org site https://www.liftcommunication.com. I really hope someone more knowledgeable can help & show me how to fix what I broke. Up until Sunday my page was working normally.
I’m using the Spike theme for WordPress. Monday, I downloaded a new WP template (Photoria by WPZOOM) to look at, without realizing that if I activated the Photoria template on my site, I’d lose the customized text widgets in my sidebar.
So after looking at it, I switched back to Spike and realized my sidebar widgets were wiped out, so I had to rebuild my social media feeds. That was ok, and going fine, until I tried to use a symple short code that my friend uses for her social media buttons. I didn’t know what I was doing with that exactly, and I tired to use it as an html text widget in my side bar. It didn’t work. (You’re laughing now right?) I tried to delete it. But it seemed stubborn to delete… I think I eventually deleted it…(?)
Next, I went back to embedding my social media feeds. I couldn’t remember the exact Twitter feed I had used, and I found this one for Twitter https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/twitter-plugin/ and I tried to install it as an html text widget, which I gather was a HUGE mistake. That’s when my site went offline.
I’ve had an error posting on my landing page since then (about 24 hours). When I go to the page, I can see my site (I can see the messed up Twitter plugin code showing in the sidebar too) but only for a second when the page loads. Then I get a 404 error for a second. Then I get a blank page & I’m locked out of my dashboard login. I get a blank page at https://www.liftcommunication.com/admin/wp-login.php too. My host server has changed my password and loaded my back up files from last Saturday thinking that might help me reset. It hasn’t.
I can’t access a login screen to access my dashboard. Every time I try to log in now, I get a new notification telling me I’m locked out for additional time. **sigh** The most recent one says this:
“Dear Site Admin,
A host, [host####], has been locked out of the WordPress site at https://www.liftcommunication.com/wp due to too many attempts to access a file that does not exist.
The host has been locked out until 2014-05-06 22:23:16 .
*This email was generated automatically by iThemes Security. To change your email preferences please visit the plugin settings.”I can’t attempt another log in until 22:23:16 tonight, but even when that time comes I have no idea how to fix this. (Also I have no idea why I have limited number of log in attempts…?) Can anyone help?
Humbly & hopefully,
Tina
