    Hello everyone,

I’m using this plugin in my sidebar to show the latest comments from my blog. However, time to time, the widget is returning ‘No Recent Comments Found’ instead of showing the comments.

This behaviour seems to be totally aleatory for me. (1 wrong, 2 ok, 2 wrong, 6 ok, 3 wrong, …)

This happens in all the pages (index, single post,)

Any idea of what can be going wrong?

    Thanks in advance!

I’ve created a new Disqus application with a new API key and it seems to work Ok. I will come back to you if the problem arise again.

Bad news. The issue is still there…

    Hey Josepmon,

Good morning. Is your’s a pretty high traffic site? Disqus caps the number of requests you can make to their servers at 1,000 an hour.

Could you post a link to your site? I can take a look too.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

The site is https://www.goodmorningkitty.com. At the present time I’m building up this website so in principle there should not be any problem with the number of requests.

Hey so I checked several times while working today and I saw the comments each time, has the issue persisted for you? The plugin defaults to “No Recent Comments Found” for most errors so that the user doesn’t see a raw error message. It’s everything from a connectivity error, the request limit I mentioned before or even disqus itself being down.

Could you post next time you see the error message and I’ll take a look if I’m up? We’ll get this figured out.

So, if I’ve got a site (www.bleachernation.com) that sees thousands of page views every hour, am I out of luck on using this fantastic plugin/widget?

Is there any way to set it so that it only updates once every two minutes, or something like that?

If you require assistance then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic instead of tagging onto someone else’s topic.

I apologize if that was inappropriate, but the very issue I asked about was addressed in this thread. It seems silly to clutter the main page with duplicative threads when the question I have is spot-on discussed in this thread.

Maybe it was unclear in my original comment, but I’m asking about the limit on API calls that is discussed in this very thread.

    Hey Ace,

It is generally better to create new topics so that individual issues can be tracked more easily (Thanks @esmi). That said, no worries about posting in the same thread, I get pinged regardless of whether it’s a new topic or another post in an existing thread.

The development version of the plugin does utilize caching so that the comments are retrieved from disqus only once a minute instead of every page load: https://github.com/andrewbartel/Disqus_Recent_Comments

If you aren’t familiar with how to manually install a plugin, shoot me an email at andrew dot bartel at gmail.com and I’ll help you get it set up this weekend.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

Marking as resolved, @acecubbie was able to solve issue using version of plugin pulled from github.
