    Hi there,

I’m taking over a project from another developer and it’s hosted on WPEngine. I’ve followed their instructions for setting up a local, git-enabled copy. The local copy is broken but the live code works just fine.

(WPEngine’s support has been useless for the past week. I’m posting here in hopes that someone with a better knowledge of WordPress than myself might recognize some of these symptoms and can think of a fix. It seems to take WPE two days to get back to any request and it’s never anything helpful so I’ve given up hope getting their help in resolving this.)

    Long Story Short
This is a fresh WordPress install, with the wp-content directory copied over from a WPEngine “Restore Point” and the DB exported from phpMyAdmin on WPE.

(This is something WPE told me to do. I had tried using the entire whole directory part and parcel from the restore but that just explodes in all kinds of undefined errors)

With the mu-plugins directory present, white screen of death. WPE tells you to remove this directory, so I did.

What happens now is the theme loads but none of the content. Clicking on any link in the navigation results in a “Not Found” error, and /wp-admin presents the default login page (this site has a custom login page) and doesn’t accept any of the logins that are in the DB.

The only error I get in the logs is

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_syndication_permalink()

This app uses the “feedwordpress” plugin and get_syndication_permalink() is a function in that plugin.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? I haven’t done much WordPress development but it seems to me that something isn’t loading – WP doesn’t seem to load the plugins?

I’d be more than happy to connect you with someone at WP Engine via a phone call to help solve this issue! Are you available for a call tomorrow morning?
