First started 2 days ago all widgets disappeared and had to be re-done then not being able to edit media after inserted into posts – then went to unable to insert media into posts now on top of that I can’t install a new theme to try to get away from all the problems created by the last update. I have deactivated all plugs ins and started over – hasn’t helped. the update has created multiple problems. Anyone able to help with getting the ability to customize again or at least tell me where to go to uninstall 3.9.1 since this seems to be the culprit.

Try reviewing the 3.9 Master List, those troubleshooting steps also apply to 3.9.1.

Can you try the following?

– First make sure you have a full backup of your files and database as a safety precaution.

Keep that back up off of your server. It’s the best safety net you can have.

– Deactivate all of your plugins, no exceptions.

– Switch your theme to Twenty Fourteen.

– Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.

– Re-login and attempt to insert media once again.

Let us know here if that works. If it does there are other steps you can try to isolate where the problem is.
