    Hello,

    I am at https://www.outsource-typing.com.

I didn’t really know what to call this as I have absolutely no idea what has actually happened to my page! Argh!

Here is what I did: installed Mailchimp for WordPress Lite, then, as advised, added widget to Main Sidebar. (What I wanted to do was have a newsletter sign-up on homepage, which worked and was right-aligned moving everything left :0 But then… well, see below).

Silly me, then I decided I didn’t want to add it after all and deleted everything (woman’s prerogative). But now all my text has been moved to a left-hand column and there’s a huge white space where once the text was lovely and filled the whole page ?? How can I restore it back so my text on all pages is justified and fills the whole page?

Help much appreciated, is there some code I now need to remove or something else I need to do?

    Thanks in advance, F

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I’m suspicious that it’s because of the Mailchimp for WordPress Lite thing I applied. Anything else I can try?

There is no magic bullet in these situations. This is just the start of basic troubleshooting – a process of elimination deliberately designed to locate the root cause as quickly as possible by first removing the most obvious and common culprits via a series of (often) temporary steps.

Your theme & plugin settings are saved in your database and should be retained for future use.

What if I just update? I have a theme update, will that work to reset everything?

Please try the steps I suggested.

I’ve deactivated all plugins, the whole lot, and it still looks the same. What now?

    And the other steps?

How do I switch to default theme?

    Via Appearance -> Themes.

I unnecessarily skipped a step and renamed the plugins folder and back again; when all I needed to have done was switch themes for a second and back and now it looks A-OK again.

    Thanks Esmi, you’re a star ??

Glad to hear that you got this sorted. ??
