Zoom factor not working

I love this plugin, yet on my mac (10.9) the magnifier does not work properly: the zoom factor does not affect the image showed in the magnifier which stays almost as small as the original.
this is with Firefox, Chrome and Safari the like and it makes the plugin useless.
