Restoring database

  • I have a backup of my wordpress blog in myd, myi and frm files that I want to upload them from my computer to my new host. But I don’t have access to the mysql database directory, and I can only import sql files. I tried to use DBA Central, but I can’t manage to connect to the host (it always gives me error 2013, yet i have remote acces enabled). Is there a way to either convert the myd myi frm files into sql with or without connecting to the host, or a way to upload the separate files themself using phpmyadmin?

  • This is probably the best way I have heard this problem described yet. I, too, have this problem. I have a .gzip (which phpMyAdmin claims to be able to autodetect), but when I import it I get a page of red ‘no-no’ text.
    The best answer I’ve heard to date is this one by Max Thrane, but that just leaves me with another problem: remotely accessing MySQL using MySQL admin.
    I think my head is going to explode and all of my readers are going to flee in terror. If anyone has an easier way or a better way to explain this, I’d greatly appreciate it.
