Since I upgraded to version 3.1 of Flickr Photostream, it does not show the photos but a “No Photos” message. I’ve tried deactivating, removing and reinstalling the plugin but all with the same result. I’ve also deleted my old API and created new ones, again with no effect. Please help as I’m at a complete loss what to do next. I really like Flickr Photostream and it would be a huge shame to have to get rid of it from my charity website ??

  • I also have this problem. I also have created a new API key in my Flickr account and still get the same error – API key is not valid and the message “No Photos” shows on my website album pages.

    Help please.

I’m having the same problem as well! However this may not be immediately fixable in the plug-in.

It looks like Flickr is making some major changes to the security for it’s APIs. See flickr-api-going-ssl-only-on-june-27th-2014. The rollout of this change will include some backout dates on June 3rd and 17th.

According to the link above by flickr, existing API keys issued before May 6th will continue to work against both the old http and new https REST APIs. At least that’s what they say. API keys issued from May 6th on will only work against the new https REST API.

It also seems as if miro.mannino, the developer for the Flickr Photostream plug-in is pro-actively updating the plug-in to accommodate this change by Flickr. As such the 3.1 update is now using the new https REST API. In theory this should be working for both old and new API keys. Unfortunately this does not appear to be the case at this time. I’m not sure if it’s a problem with this plug-in or with the current state of the flickr APIs.

While this is definitely affecting my website, I expect there to be some disruption while miro.mannino attempts to keep pace with the changes being made by flickr and the lack of stability in those APIs.

Hopefully flickr will figure out their issues and miro.mannino will release any required updates as soon as possible.

Thanks for that htcwebsite – very helpful. Fingers crossed it is fixed very soon.
    Thanks.

I’m having that problem too, and I think the fix should be done to the plugin. Because other flickr plugins are working fine, eg. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/flickr-stream/.

Somehow, I do agree with that. Until then, I’m happy to provide you with any debug info when needed.

I had the same problem and I got it fixed by using the modified version of phpflickr found here:

Thank you Lafare – it worked perfectly ??

I’m using the latest version of the plugin and tried Lafare’s solution with no luck. I’m still getting “API key invalid” when I try to register a new key, and “No photos” on my website’s gallery page. I’ve done extensive troubleshooting and am at a loss — any help much appreciated!

I copied all 7 files in the phpflickr folder at https://github.com/nextend/phpflickr/tree/53be771aa18954d0372384aef866784e7a5739d9 to my phpflickr folder. I then went into my Flickr Photostream settings and updated the Flickr API Key to a new one and saved the settings. It saved OK and my Photostream started working again.

thanks for your reply. I deleted and did a fresh install of the latest version of the plugin, replaced the phpflickr files with the newer ones, tried a couple different API keys — I still get the “API Key is not valid” message + no gallery images. I tried a different Flickr plugin and also could not pull in photos. Before the change at Flickr our gallery was running fine. Any other avenues to consider?

When I installed the new version of phpflickr I discovered the error message on my Flickr Photostream had changed from “No Photos” to “API Key is not valid” (or similar). I then generated a new API Key and saved that in my Flickr Photostream settings. I think I may have had to delete my cache in Chrome before changing the Flickr Photostream settings as the first time I tried this it had no effect.

GRCT-webmaster’s solution above which requires the downloading and replacement of files within the phpFlickr folder WAS SPOT ON! Many thanks!! Prior to this I tried uninstalling / reinstalling, clearing cache, removing entries from the WP_options table, countless times… all to no avail.

I was just about to give up before I read and tried his / her solution.

I signed up to this forum only to let others know this solution worked!! ??

    Good luck people!

hey — still stuck on this one —?have reinstalled the plugin and replaced phpFlickr files per instructions a number of times. Have tried multiple API keys and keep getting “API key is not valid” message. Gallery worked prior to the Flickr security change. Tried a separate Flickr account (userID + API) and also did not function. Installed plugin on separate website/host and also did not function. Are there any other Flickr account settings or WordPress/webhost settings that come to mind as possible sources of error? Or any other things to try? many thanks

I’m afraid I did very little to get it to work. I recently updated to version 3.1.1 of the plugin, thinking this included the new version of the phpFlickr code. It didn’t and the error returned. To fix it I only had to overwrite phpFlickr.php with the new version and upload the new file cacert.pem.

Yes, wanted to wait the official release for these changes… but I think that I will change that
