• Hi!

I’ve done multiple searches here and elsewhere, but have come up short. That being said, I apologize if this has been addressed.

I’m looking for a way (preferably a plugin, but I’m open to other alternatives) to prevent a customer from adding an item to their cart when another customer has already added it. For instance, other eCommerce sites will have an “inventory reserve” so that when Customer A has Product XYZ in their cart, Customer B can’t see Product XYZ for 10-60 minutes (depending on the site).

Is there a way to temporarily reduce the stock of an item? Occasionally I have one-of-a-kind items where naturally, there’s only one available. Currently, I haven’t come across this as a problem, but it would be extremely embarrassing if, because they could add it to their cart, two customers purchased the same item that there was only one of (because they happened to be shopping and clicked order at the same time) or Customer B became upset because when they tried to check out Product XYZ was no longer available.

I know the odds of this are relatively low, but it would be nice to have that functionality. Does any one know of a plugin for this?

    Hello @dreamfevers,

have you come up with a solution yet?

I have searched, literally, ALL over the web for a solution as I am looking also for a temporary reserve of a product so that another customer cannot add it to cart. The only difference is that I want to display a visible timer so that a product can be reserved for X mins.

My thought is that the Pre Order function is pretty close to what we are trying to do.
If I come up with a solution I will drop a note here in case someone esle is in need of it.
