• I have searched the forums and found questions and answers for this topic. However, the answers seem to be blog theme-type specific. So, I still can’t solve this problem. I want only short summaries to show up on my homepage and not full-text. I want visitors to click summaries to take them to full text. My blog is https://makeitorfixit.com. I am hoping that I will be able to keep the feature pic in the summary also. You can see the full-text appearing. I have summaries checked in the settings. Doesn’t seem to matter. In editor, I see the index.php under Main Index Template. I have the WordPress Mom Theme. If someone could please offer assistance, or direct me in the right direction, I would really appreciate this. Thanks a ton!

  • Are you using the ‘more’ tag in your posts content? If not, then you should be. That is what tells WordPress where to break and show the ‘REad more’ link when you’re using a summary page. You’ll see it in the editor on the top bar on the right. Insert that where you want it to go and you’ll see your posts get truncated where they are meant to.

Thank you! Thank you! I went back to edit some of the posts on the homepage. It works perfectly. From now on, I will remember to insert in all new posts. Again, thanks a TON!
