Best Themes and best Practices for this plugin?

I there–I am building a site that reviews teaching programs offered by different schools in a certain field. I have built other sites, but before I choose a theme for this site, I thought I would ask if anyone has tips on ones which work well with this plug in ( since it seems that some conflict.) I tested this plugin on a theme I currently have on a different site and it didn’t work.
I have read through all the forum posts, but if anyone has general best practices from the start (if you could go back) please do share..anything to avoid glitches and slow downs. Thanks so much!
